Beautiful Roofs – What Makes Them Stand Out?

A roof is one of the most important aspects of a home’s exterior and structural design. It provides shelter, protection, and stability. Even so, you don’t need to compromise beauty over safety. With many materials and designs to choose from, there’s a roof that can match your home. When choosing the appropriate roof material, keeping weight, local housing codes, and budget in mind is essential.

As a premier Boston roofing company, we can help you make the best decision for your home. Here are some of the most popular roofs available.

Metal Roofs

Metal roofs are popular for their durability, capable of withstanding severe weather. Although metal roofs can be a little more expensive, their value increases with their ability to last many years. They also offer high solar reflectance, making them energy-efficient. Overall, metal roofs are great for storm-prone areas or contemporary-style homes. Plates and shingles come in a selection of copper, aluminum, zinc, and stainless steel.

Clay or Concrete Tiles

Clay and concrete tiles are a sophisticated and beautiful design choice for your home. These heavy, versatile materials can be flat, scalloped, or ribbed. Concrete tiles are less expensive than clay, but they tend to be heavier. Energy-efficient and long-lasting, clay and concrete tiles work well with uniquely designed homes.

Asphalt Shingles

Easy to install and comparably inexpensive, asphalt shingles continue to be the most popular roofing material in the U.S. Unfortunately, they’re not quite as durable as some of the previous materials. With that said, homeowners can increase their lifespan by reinforcing the material with cellulose or fiberglass. Their versatile and classic design makes them perfect for any home, particularly suburban communities. We have extensive experience with asphalt shingles in the New England area, and if well-maintained, they can last for years.

Cedar Wood Shingles

Cedarwood shingles offer homeowners a classic design, and their rustic appearance makes them a wonderful choice for people interested in handmade, natural materials. With that said, carefully evaluate local fire codes and your area’s weather. Since they can easily attract mold, installing wood shingles in tropical, moist climates is not wise. Areas prone to wildfires may also need to reconsider wood shingles. Even so, if your home is up to code, cedarwood shingles can make your exterior design gorgeous and timeless.

Slate

Slate is a great choice for people interested in a sustainable home. Made of completely recyclable materials, slate is durable, fire-resistant, and versatile. It does tend to be more expensive and carries a lot of weight, but its long-lasting durability makes it valuable. Beautiful and stylish, slate works well with homes inspired by European exterior design.

I needed a copper roof rip/replace in the South End of Boston. After reaching out to a few small one man shows that couldn’t pull a permit I found RB Farina. Not only did they beat the other 2 prices they came up with an all-encompassing quote and explanation of their process. Alex was the guy in charge and he was responsive, professional and likable. I am a construction business owner and I know a pro when I deal with one!! These guys are the real deal

We were very satisfied with the work done by Farina. Our roof is complicated as we have an 18th century Georgian saltbox with two major additions over the last centurey creating lots of angles. The work was done with care, the materials first-rate and the team was professional, curteous and competent. I would highly recommend.

Very happy with the roof replacement RB Farina performed on my house in Winchester. The Sales Manager Paulo answered all my questions, did not push me to sign and provided a very competitive quote. Alex who supervised the job was very approachable, easy to talk to and ensured the job was finished to a very high standard. Very happy customer and would recommend RB Farina!

What a fantastic professional roof and gutter job. They started Friday morning bright and early and my new roof was done by the end of the day Friday. This is a traditional Northeast two family home with a gable roof and two shed dormers. There were skylights as well. The attention to detail was exceptional including in process communication detailing rotten roof boards needing replacement (pictures provided). The gutters were done Saturday morning and finished by noon. The property was cleaned of debris, esp nails and you couldn’t tell they had been there! I would enthusiastically recommend RB Farina to anyone considering a new roof and or gutters!!
